Strength Training And Resistance Training Are Often The Same
Filed Under (Uncategorized) by admin on 22-05-2009
When talking about resistance training, you are really talking about a form of strength training. It may be confusing to read about these two methods of working out, but in the end, they are one and the same.
There is a vast array of weight training programs all with slightly different theories, but they all arrive at the same conclusion: strength gains. Resistance training, a form of strength training, can specifically be defined as an effort being performed against an opposing force. Resistance bands, resistance tubes, free weights, and even your own body weight and gravity can be considered an opposing force. Unlike free weights, the exercise bands and tubing are portable. Resistance training builds muscle, burns fat faster, and can easily be performed in your home eliminating crowded gym workouts.
One myth to dispense with is the one where you have to go to a gym to do heavy weight lifting with big exercise equipment in order to get results. Weight training with heavy weights has its place in fitness programs, but for many of us a simple rubber band can be a powerful piece of exercise equipment that is less expensive and in many cases more practical.
Strength training and resistance training offer the same benefits and results and ultimately make your body’s musculoskeletal system stronger. Whatever you call it, a strong body is a functional and injury-free body making fitness routines a necessary part of your life.
